Peter Aubrey-Smith began his reinsurance career in 1962 at a Lloyd's broker in London. In 1965 he was employed by the Agrippina Reinsurance Company in Cologne, Germany, where he worked as an underwriter and became manager of the department handling English speaking territories, Scandinavia and Asia.

In 1975, Peter immigrated to the USA and joined ECRA in New York, the organization that became St Paul Re in 1983. From 1975 until 2000 Peter managed St Paul Re's international underwriting operations from New York. During this time he traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, and was responsible for setting up St Paul Re's offices in Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. He instituted the popular St Paul Re International Training Outreach Program (SPRITOP), which annually brought many senior insurance and reinsurance executives to New York for a week long seminar on advanced reinsurance concepts. His last responsibility at St Paul Re was Executive Vice President responsible for Sales, Marketing & Business Development. Peter retired from St Paul Re in 2002.

Peter is fluent in English and German. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in London and in 1989 was authorized by the Institute as a "Chartered Insurer".

Denisa M. Dumitru, President

Prior to becoming a founding partner at Stellar Re, Denisa was in charge of Eastern European Underwriting at St Paul Re, Inc. in New York. Her career at St Paul Re spanned the years 1986 until 2002.  In 1994 she was a recipient of the St Paul Companies Chairman's award for outstanding achievement.  She was recognized for her role in initiating a joint venture between the St Paul Companies and the Rosgosstrakh Insurance Group.  Another of her many achievements was the implementation of a program that sponsored various types of training in the USA for insurance executives from Eastern European countries following the liberalization of their economies at the beginning of the nineteen nineties.

Before 1986, Denisa was an employee of the Romanian State Insurance Company, in Bucharest, where she managed both ceded and assumed international reinsurance treaties.

Denisa speaks English, Romanian and Russian. She is licensed by the State of New York as an insurance broker and has a Diploma in Ocean Marine Insurance from the College of Insurance, New York.  She also holds a Master of Science degree from Bioterra University in Bucharest.

Sol Kroll, General Counsel

Sol, a graduate of St John's University, LLB, is admitted to the New York Bar, the Washington, D.C. Bar, before the U. S. District Court for the Eastern & Southern Districts of New York, as well as before the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the International Association of Insurance Counsel and the New York County Lawyers Association.

He is listed in Who's Who in Law, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the United States and Who's Who in the World.  Sol served as a Director of Folksamerica Reinsurance Company, and has served as County Attorney for Putnam County, New York.

Sol's firm was devoted exclusively to the practice of insurance law and insurance defense. As an insurance lawyer for the past 40 years, he has worked very closely with Lloyd's Underwriters in the arena of medical malpractice , products liability  and professional liability and professional indemnity in formulating policy wording and promoting the concept of "claims made"coverage.  Over the past twenty years , he has been active in upholding "claims made" as consistent with public policy, which has now received approval and judicial sanction of the courts of the various states in the United States.

Sol has published many articles, particularly on the subject of "claims made"regulation on non-admitted and admitted insurance and reinsurance.  He was one of the first American lawyers in Europe and the Far East.

His firm developed a keen understanding and appreciation of the needs of its clients in England, Europe and the United States.  As such, it has consistently strived to maintain a high level of professional excellence in the rapidly changing dynamic world of insurance.  He has been in the forefront of the regulation of insurance.  He has been in the forefront of the regulation of insurance and reinsurance in the development of new concepts and ideas.  One example is a highly professional subject in the area of electromagnetic fields.  His was one of the first firms to place the insurance industry on a watch to monitor this area on the basis of an early warning system.

Sol's firm was U.S. General Counsel to the Institute of London Underwriters for fifteen years and the Association Française Des Sociétés D'Assurances Transports (AFSAT).
