March 2009 - Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, appointed to the Technical Assistance Project in Support of Local Government Capacity to Manage Natural Disaster Risks in the Philippines, a project of the World Bank. December 2008 - Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, appointed to the joint project-study of the World Bank/United Nations ISDR, Mitigating the Adverse Financial Effects of Natural Hazards on the Economies of the Central Asia and Caucasus countries. June 2008 - Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, was part of the consultants team advising World Bank on the insurance operations and risk management for the Bulgarian catastrophe insurance pool. The work implied an extensive technical review of the existing proposals for the creation of the Bulgarian national insurance scheme as well as recommendations on the optimal design of such a program with the view of international experience. February 2008 - As member of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII), Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, is working together with a team of consultants on a study for the United Nations Development Program related to the climate changes and insurance solutions. January 2008 - Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, presents together with the consultants team appointed to the South Eastern Europe Disaster Risk Management Initiative, a World Bank/United Nations ISDR partnership, their study on the key pre-conditions for the creation of the regional weather risk market in the South Eastern Europe countries. The work outlined the key bottlenecks to the development of weather risk market in the region and provided the World Bank with technical recommendations on how to address them. January 2007: Stellar Re Europa licensed by CSA.
“The representative office of Stellar Re Intermediaries, Inc. in Bucharest, Romania has been converted to a locally capitalized corporation named Stellar Re Europa Broker de Asigurare si Reasigurare SRL and fully licensed as an insurance and reinsurance intermediary by the CSA (Comisia de Supraveghere a Asigurarilor – Romanian Insurance Supervisory Authority).

Stellar Re Europa will continue to act as the representative office for Stellar Re Intermediaries, Inc. in Romania for all treaty reinsurance business placed with non-Romanian reinsurers. Stellar Re Europa will handle for its own account treaty reinsurance business between Romanian companies and all facultative reinsurance business.”

2006 - At the request of the United Nations and the World Bank, Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re, was appointed as member of the consultants team who carried out an extensive assessment of government fiscal instruments and resources and availability/access to catastrophe insurance in 10 countries of South Eastern Europe. This laid the groundwork for the World Bank Regional Disaster Risk Mitigation and Adaptation Program and resulted in a World Bank publication which can be viewed on this site [click here].

28th November, 2005 - Stellar Re wins Most Dynamic Reinsurance Broker of the Year Award at "The Romanian Insurance Market Awards Gala”. The award was granted by PRIMM Insurance Magazines and was presented to Denisa Dumitru, President of Stellar Re.
